The BBC is creating a major new network production base in the North of England, as part of its wider commitment to produce 50% of programmes outside London by 2016. BBC North at MediaCityUK in Salford Quays, will open in 2011 with over 2,000 roles based there from across an enormous range of BBC output. In, what is the biggest move out of London in the BBC's history, Children's, Sport, 5 Live Radio, Learning, and parts of the Future, Media and Technology team are all relocating to Salford; where they will be joined by current Manchester based output, including The BBC Philharmonic, Dragon's Den, File on 4, Radcliffe and Maconie, Songs of Praise, Question of Sport and local and regional services.
